Jay Carolyn Wu

Jay Carolyn Wu (they/them) is a creative producer and writer/director. They were a development executive for scripted original comedy & drama at Bell Media from 2021 to 2023. During that time, they covered a slate of 15+ projects for Crave and CTV, including Sullivan's Crossing and The Spencer Sisters, both of which premiered on CTV in Canada in 2022 and The CW in the US in 2023. Other titles include Bria Mack Gets A Life and One Day We'll All Be Dead.

They now lead development at LaRue Entertainment, building a slate of bold, new, creator-driven series and features. As a writer/director, Jay's shorts have played festivals internationally. Their most recent short film Toe the Line (2021) was nominated for Golden Sheaf for Scripted Short at Yorkton Film Festival 2022. Jay also spearheaded the first-ever all-BIPOC cohort of the long-running Prime Time TV Program at the Canadian Film Centre in 2022, as well as the Vancouver Asian Film Festival Series Accelerator Program in 2021.

They were also trained as a Racial Equity Media Facilitator under BIPOC TV & Film’s Racial Equity Media Facilitator Training Program in 2023.
